I had never seen the video for Scottish band Idlewild's "Little Discourage" (from 100 Broken Windows (2001)) before, so here it is. This single, which reached number 24 on the UK singles chart in September 1999, definitely supports the conventional wisdom that 100 Broken Windows sounds a lot like Document-era R.E.M. Even the title and lyrics of this song sound like they came straight from J.M. Stipe circa 1987. Unsurprisingly, then, I've always liked it.Monday, March 24, 2008
